went with hope this golden globe winning film would be great .came away after 2 and half hours with a dead bottom...
it was so boring...that is my chief criticism.
every character spoke in a flat monotone...especially the sister as narrator...
the guy the film went over was a damaged child...who despite the outside appearance of a perfect future... was an emmotionally seriously disturbed young man ..he left his past...and denied his name and family...punished them for not understanding his needs...by dropping out for two years....letting them worry and suffer for their ignorance...he did not realise that he was part of a chain...just one more damaged person...from damaged parents who could not help their behaviour. I thought from the revue that he was going to go on an adventure...reach manhood ...but what i saw was a very very depressing tragic tale of a young guy with very little resources...going for a dream...that he had just read in a book...it was the most depressing film i have ever seen...as it was true....i hope all parents who see this film realise that their childrens child hood depends on a basis of love....all the people he met on his travels had lost their children...it was a grim portrayal of family life...the music that the film hung on was also so repetitive and boring...every number just like the last...
